The future is another country, uncharted territory just waiting to be discovered. Or so they say. Probably why returning to the freelance life after 22 years is a pretty big adventure.
Moving on after more than two decades is just a bit daunting too, which is why I’m glad to have you here, reading this, the first of my new monthly newsletters. Thanks for subscribing.
And what better way to start than by expressing a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been supportive, not just for this new venture, but throughout the years. It has always been, and still is, much appreciated and humbling. Even after all this time I still find it a bit bewildering how many people actually read the words I write. So thank you again.
The question I been asked most in recent weeks is what happens next? Well, as you may have seen elsewhere Líam Rudden Media is the plan, a company with three distinct strands - Media, Production and In Person.
The Media strand will find me at my laptop producing all the entertainment and travel content you know me for, only now I’ll be crafting features and stories for some of the biggest theatre producers, music promoters, publishers and names in the worlds of entertainment and travel.
I’m delighted to have Elf: The Christmas Arena Spectacular and Bay City Rollers’ original singer Nobby Clark as my first clients in this field. Thanks for having faith me, guys.
Also under the media strand you will find My Kind Of Crime, in which some of my favourite crime writers (Stuart Johnstone and Lee Cockburn are the first two) share their secrets, Agenda, my new weekly online column and One Life, One Dream, One Reality, a new monthly celebrity podcast with some great names joining me - more on that soon.
The Production strand will see return to the stage with three brand new plays in the pipeline for 2023 - Artifice In Court, Strange and Babyface. The film version of Thief also goes into production next year and watch out for various other projects that are currently in discussion - there may even be a return to acting.
Finally, the In Person strand will incorporate everything from chairing book launches to commentating on the entertainment world for radio and TV, and hosting events. On that note, thanks to the author of Hit Me and Niddrie Boys, Alex Brown, for inviting me to chair the launch events for latest book over two great evenings.
I’d also like to show my appreciation here for my brilliantly talented nephew Damien, who designed and built my website, check it out at www.liamrudden.com
As I keep saying, exciting times indeed. Maybe I’m trying to convince myself, as I wrote at the top of the piece the future is uncharted, anything can happen… do stick around for the journey.
And thank you again. 🙏
All the best,
Líam
Liam this all sounds incredibly exciting and I'm so happy for you. I was in my last job which I adored, for 23 years as well, and I definitely mourned its loss. The new life it opened up for me has been filled with variety and colour. You are a creative and I think that this new life always lay in your future. All the best my friend.
Well done Liam, looking forward to reading future news. Saw Nobby Clark and his Band in Bannockburn last month, great gig, still has the magic.
