Life for iconic Eighties’ pop star, fashion designer and author Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, has never been busier as his panto debut, playing Captain Hook in World’s Biggest Panto’s arena spectacular Peter Pan, tours to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 29 & 30 December.
First record bought? Hunky Dory, by David Bowie.
Book that changed your life? The Power of Now, by Eckholt Tolle.
Most expensive purchase? My house.
First job? Delivering parcels for a print firm.
Favourite time of day? Morning.
Last time you cried? Every day, I cry about something.
Worst fashion faux pas? Leggings.
Favourite holiday destination? A yacht on the Amalfi Coast.
Idea of holiday hell? Margate in a heatwave.
Biggest fear? Giving in to fear.
What are you watching on TV? Kin.
Favourite movie? An italian movie the Like Crazy.
How do you relax? Outside meditation in nature.
Best advice you’ve been given? Listen. You learn more by listening.
Who you last spoke to on the phone? My brother, Kevin.
First thing you did this morning? Reacted to a nasty review of my book by Tony Clayton Lea.
Worst mistake? Caring about things you can't change.
Your inspiration? Everything inspires me but mostly Bowie and occasionally Morrisey.
Would most like to meet? The Buddha.
Childhood crush? Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel.
Weirdest fan gift? Paintings of myself are always weird.
Quirky habits? Over reacting to everything.
Worst meal? A disappointing sandwich.
What makes you laugh? My friends make me laugh that’s why they are my friends.
Most embarrassing moment? I don't do embarrassment and anyway it’s not for me to say.
Sean Connery or Daniel Craig? Both and for very different reasons.
Beauty is... not the commodity we once thought it was.
Looking forward to Glasgow? Funny question, imagine if I said no. It's a question that answers itself. Love Scotland.
Are Scottish crowds supportive? They have always been great for live shows and DJ sets and I hear they are a rowdy panto crowd.
* Best memories of Scotland? We went to No 1 on the charts after having to cancel a show in Glasgow; I had to end the show after loosing my voice and we got lots of boos and jeers. The next day Do You Really was No 1. It was bitter sweet.
Any roots in Scotland with your Irish blood? I must have, but we are Celts and that's enough for me.
Tartan was popular back in the Blitz day… I wore tartan religiously as a punk and got beat up by a Scot in Brighton. Vivienne Westwood loved tartan and I loved her.
What do you remember of your first Scottish gig? Night Moves in Glasgow, it was small but busy.
Scottish musical inspirations? I love Geraldine by Glas Vegas and play it loudly whenever I am trying to be inspired. It might be one of my most favourite songs ever. I'm also friends with Lulu.
*Fact Check: ‘I think George's memory is a bit hazy. Culture Club played Edinburgh the night Do You Really Want To Hurt Me got to number one - 19th Oct. It was a shortish set but there was a friendly atmosphere as far as I recall and they were really good. Night Moves in Glasgow was the 4th November.’ - @Darkstones
